The Grammostola Rosea

Since october last year i have got 3 Grammostola Rosea (also known as the Chillian Rose), they are the most common Tarantula and also the best beginner species. The Grammostola Rosea are to find in the desert and scrub regions of Northern Chille, Bolivia, and Argentina. in the wild they live most of the time in burrows they make in theire natural habitatt. it's said that they don't burrow much in the captivity but there are some people that have reported that they doo burrow in theire captivity.

My experince with the chillian Rose is that they do throw alot of hair when they are stressed and do treath to bite if they get angry, but i have never been biten by a Tarantula yet. The 3 Roses i have are pretty docile and calm. one of them are fully grown, while two of them have still some growing to do before they are fully grown.

the smalest of them, im unsure if it's a she or he yet. since the mark that showing that it's a girl is not as clear as on the two other ones.

Two of the Roses are in pre-molt something that means that they will grow a bit larger and get brighter colour on theire carapace and abdomin.
A chillian Rose have a large menu of food they can eat, but becuse of were they come from they don't eat much and can fast up to a year or so. They can live good as long as you offer them food at least once a week and always have fresh water in theire terrari.

what they eat is: Grasshoppers, Crickets, Moths, Beetles, Cockroaches and Mealworms.

The temperatures in the terrari should be at around 21-25 degreces but they can use a bit colder as long as it don't get below 18 degreces.

Terrari Upset

A Tarantula got to have a Terrari that they can live in, one that they can't get out of becuse Tarantulas are masters of runing away if they get the chance.

For two of my Tarantulas i use the 30X30X30 exotera Terari it's more than enough place for a Tarantula.

For substrate i use the earth called Plantation Soil that is for Reptiles and other exotic animals. My Tarantulas like to dig in the Soil and make web on it so you should have alot of it in theire Terarri.

As a hiding place for my Tarantulas i have a little cave that they fit into

And a waterdish that the Tarantulas drink from, when they drink they drink alot.

What People Should know!

The common Chillian Rose (Grammostola Rosea)

If people thinking about getting a Tarantula you should read about them before you get one, because it's not so easy to have Tarantulas as people think.

1. The risk of getting biten buy a iritated Tarantula are 50%, becuse some Tarantulas got temperments that change fast.

 2. Some Tarantulas wont eat for a year sometimes becuse they love fasting
.
3. When a Tarantula throw urtica Hair it's painfull a...nd it iching like crazy for days.

4. Not all Tarantulas can be handled.

5. EVERYONE should know the diffrence between New world and Old Word Tarantulas. Most new world Tarantulas got urtica Hair and rarely bite before throwing hair, but it can happen if you iritate a Tarantula exstremly. Most Old World Tarantulas have not Hair so they will most likely bite.

6. A Tarantulas speed can overwhelm you that's why most people would recomend a docile and easy Tarantula, like the Grammostola rosea or the Grammostola Pulchra becuse the rosea kick a bit of hair but aren't as fast tarantula, the Grammostola Pulchra almost never throw hair but are really docile most of the time.

7. A Tarantulas Venom can be harmfull to a human, most new world Tarantulas won't have strong venom but evenso you should always see a doctor if you get bitten becuse some people have allergys for Tarantulas. Most Old World Tarantulas have venom that can put a humans life in danger, at least put one in hospital so always know the risk before handeling one. Or as i say don't handle a Old World Tarantula at all. You never know when it will bite.

 8. When a Tarantula get a wound they will eighter die if the wound are too big or bleed to death. If the wound is on the feet it's easy to treat it, with useing super glue.

9. The golden Rule: Always know what Tarantula you have, because  most spices have different care sheets you have to follow.

Grouping Tarantula's

After reading hundreds of pages about the most common tarantula's that is possible to find on the world marked , I have found that it is possible to group them in many different groups.

For example:
Size
Toxicity
Art
Spinning the Web
Temperature
Humidity
coveted
Colours

and many other groups.

Because of the many strict rules for imports in Norway it is very difficult to get hold of the very toxic and most Beautiful kinds of Tarantula's for the  Tarantula owners here in Norway.

For example: one of those who died not long ago is one of the species that are very difficult to get imported because the species it comes from endangered . The year 1985 was all Tarantulas under Art name Brachypelma sat on the list of endangered species, because this species had been hunted and killed in large numbers . After that it was only allowed to sell animals of this species that were captive bred.

After the little Brachypelma Bohemi I had died, Me and my mother went to the pet shop to order a new one of the same kind and it was one of the finest tarantula . After many weeks of waiting , we were told that because of the strict import and breed rules here in Norway that were of this kind of Tarantula were stopet at the border to sent back to the farmers.
I have an expectation that I can get hold of one of this kind in the future again, it was one of the most tamest and most finest when it came to colors.

For eksempel:
Størrelse
Giftighet
Art
Spinning av nett
Temperatur
Fuktighet
Ettertraktet
Farger

Getting to know my Taratulas

Before i wanted to have a Tarantula i did read allot of information about them, everything from how to care for them and how to feed them.

After reading allot about them and after i got myself them i found out that it's  much more complicated than everyone say it is.

First of all, when a Tarantula falls or injures them self it's a 50% chance that it will survive. because an Tarantula's skeleton is so weak and can't take much damage. i have experienced how a tarantula can die from both sickness and falls. two of my T's died not long ago, one of them died of a bad fall and injury that hurt most of her abdomen, and my second one died from some kind of illness. we are not sure what kind of illness yet.

So at the moment i have only 3 Tarantulas that still live. two of them are of the Grammostola Rosea/Portoi family both brown/red colour, and my last T is a Grammostola Pulchra. Brazilian black Tarantula.

They all are really docile but have moments and days when they are really moody and we can't have them out much. they have not tryd to bite me yet, but two of them have showed me their fangs a few times. i know that I'm sometimes taking a risk when they are moody and can bite but it's a risk I'm willing to take.

The type of Tarantula i have are not as dangerous as other spice's can be. their venom is around the same as a bee so not so dangerous, unless you are allergic to it.
